The farmhouse

Mens sana in corpore sano

In the green heart of Umbria, amid hills and enchanting landscapes, in the village of Tervenano, part of the municipality of Castel Ritaldi, stands the Villa Francesca farmhouse, a family-run oasis of peace and authenticity.

It offers six rooms of different types, very spacious and bright, furnished with refined and careful attention, featuring antique pieces that belong to our family.

Reflecting our passion for music, each room is named after six extraordinary women who are the protagonists of famous operas: Aida, Madame Butterfly, Tosca, Turandot, Violetta, and Carmen.

Ideal for groups and couples

Villa Francesca is perfect for group stays with exclusive use, as well as for couples seeking an experience among vineyards and olive groves.

The renovation of the 19th-century farmhouse was carried out with care, preserving the connection to Umbrian tradition. Amid stone walls, exposed beams, and terracotta floors, you can feel a past that comes alive in the details: an antique gramophone playing melodies from another era, an old and evocative icehouse bearing witness to ancient knowledge and rural traditions.

At the same time, we added a touch of modernity, focusing on renewable energy out of care for the environment. We transformed an old stable, located outside, into a cozy wellness center equipped with a small gym, sauna, and Jacuzzi Turkish bath.

Villa Francesca offers free access to a large “smart” parking lot with charging stations for electric vehicles. From the rooms to the common areas, you will enjoy climate-controlled environments. All these services are powered by a photovoltaic system.
This choice perfectly fits the philosophy of our farmhouse, which combines nature, tradition, and innovation to offer an authentic and respectful experience of the territory.

Our Zero-Kilometer Breakfast

Each day begins with a genuine buffet breakfast rich in local flavors, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from trusted local producers.

Breakfast can be enjoyed in a room that was formerly used for grape pressing and has now been adapted as a convivial space, or outside overlooking a beautiful panorama of vineyards, olive groves, and sheaves of wheat, behind which the beauty of the Martani Mountains can be seen.

Table service includes coffee, homemade cakes, tarts with artisanal jams made from our fruit, “pane sciapo” (unsalted bread) served with local honey, butter, and preserves, fresh eggs, yogurt, cheeses, and typical cold cuts.

Curiosity: “Pane sciapo”

The salt tax in Umbria, particularly in Perugia in 1540, led to the “Salt War” and the tradition of unsalted bread. Pope Paul III raised the price of salt, sparking a revolt by the people of Perugia who, in protest, stopped using salt in their bread. This political and fiscal decision significantly impacted local culinary culture, giving rise to unsalted bread, which remains typical of the region today.

Vineyard tasting experience

Our tastings tell the story of the territory and the farm. Authentic ingredients, traditional preparations, and a love for homemade good food.

During the stay, by reservation, guests can enjoy this organized experience at sunset in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
Extra virgin olive oil, selected local wines, boards with artisanal cold cuts and cheeses, wood-fired bread, vegetables from the garden, and fruit from our orchard.

These are special moments that unite quality, territory, and sustainability.
